People really don’t it. It’s offensive, stop doing it. Please just cosplay with your natural skin color. Personally, I’m not going to get offended if I see a white person cosplaying someone of a darker skin color. But if I see they darken their skin just for the costume, then yes I have an issue. And I hate when they use the excuse “Oh well people put on grey makeup for trolls” Guess what dumbshit there is not a real person walking around with grey skin!!!! My skin is not a costume. Why can’t people get it through their thick skulls. And what’s sad is that some of my favorite cosplayers are doing this now. (especially this one cosplayer I have admired for YEARS) I was so disappointed.

I think the funniest thing is the people who argue there is nothing wrong with brownface aren’t black. Like really? Of course you’re not going to see from our point of view. Do you see any black person lightening their skin for a cosplay? Hell no! That would mean we would have to lighten our skin almost every time we got into a costume because a good 85% of characters in anime, comics, books, etc are of lighter skin tones. It’s unnecessary, offensive to people with lighter skintones, and too much of a hassle. If you want to cosplay Katara, Korra, Static Shock go for it! Just use the skintone you was born with.

Not going with my with the design I had. Instead I’m going to use the canon pattern of female Handmaid’s dress and make it into a jacket. It’s going to be so much easier.

It’s kinda going to look like the one on the right. But I might make a tailcoat and something almost like a trench coat. And I guess some green boots or something.

ZOMG! I just found even better glasses for Sollux in Dollar Tree of all places! They’re not circular but they look so much better than the ones on ebay.

I just found the pattern for my genderbent!Handmaid cosplay!!! YAY!!

Just came from Homestuck photoshoot. SO MANY HOMESTUCKS! The cosplays were so nice and the fandom is so awesome. I’ve learned so much through this fandom and my cosplay skills are getting better! This has truly been an experience and I love all my fellow homestucks.
