Women of the KKK.
in case people still think white women were/are not complicit in upholding white supremacy.
i need a job where i work one hour a week and i get paid a thousand dollars a minute
only white people will see an entire post about how poorly Black people are treated by white people and find it more pressing to address that they’re being referred to as white. sociopathic narcissists to the enddddddd.

Shana is one of my favorite of the new Jem dolls.
She has a gorgeous face, and her hair is unique, super curly and of course purple!
I brushed it (it was quite some work!) and it turned back naturally into ringlets, but they’re different from her original ou-of-the-box hair ;)

agreed.
Does that put it into perspective for you?
Seriously. I always have to try to put this into perspective for people. People act like slavery was so distant. My mom is older in relation to my age (she had me at 43), and her father was older when she was born (in his early 50’s) and was born in the late 1800’s. One of his PARENTS was born into slavery. For people like my mom, this isn’t the least bit distant. My mom grew up in the Jim Crow south. History is so depersonalized that people can act like slavery, Jim Crow, and blatantly racist institutions existed in 1800 BC
I have an aunt who died in 02 who was born in 1898.
I’d LOVE for someone to have told her that slavery was “long ago”.
My mother was born in 1956.. My grandmother in 1937.. My great grandparents in 1919… My great great granddad in the 1890’s and his parents who were born just shy of slavery…. All of these people were alive when my mother was younger… And my great great granddad died when I was 4! So please tell me how long ago slavery was again??
My grand mother was a sharecropper’s daughter….Who do you think her parents were the children of?amen
My great grandmother was a sharecropper. She told me before she passed away (at 92.. long life!) that they used to pick cotton and farm.
And I love it when folks try to act like Jim Crow was in Ancient Rome an’ shit. There are plenty of people just a few years older than me who experienced that shit!
also had a family member who died in 01, born in 1898
her mama woulda been friends with ex-slaves
she coulda spoken to ex-slaves as a youngin
My family owned a few slaves actually. They were still in Ireland at the time and apparently they treated at least the one girl I know of quite well.
that aside
It really is a long time ago. You people are underestimating the rate of change in society. Yes it was less than 200 years ago, but do you realize how different things are today? There were no telephones then and yet now everyone carries one that has access to most of human knowledge within seconds. Relatively and temporally it was not long ago, but its direct effect upon individuals today is near non-existent.
I wonder why this is even a thing people are bringing up really.Yeah it happened, but what has dwelling in the past ever done for anyone?
My thing about slavery is, yes it was horrible for some but not every slave was beaten and abused. I have ancestors that were nothing but kind to their slaves. My great great great grandfather bought slaves and had them sign a contract, if they worked hard (and I mean honest hard work not go work in the sun till you pass out) for him for just ten years he would set them free and give them a patch of land and enough money to get settled and start their own lives and most of them actually went back to work for his family and got paid to do it.
Second, I do not like how most african americans act like they’re the only ones who were ever forced into slavery and that only white people did it. News flash, when the british were taking people from africa it WAS THE AFRICANS KIDNAPPING OTHER AFRICANS ON MOST OCCASIONS. They would then turn them over to the british for a profit. Slavery was happening long before the brits started rounding up people from africa.
Can you two not?
Like can you fucking not?
OH MY FUCKING GOD
THE AFRICANS SOLD AFRICANS BULLSHIT
ANY SLAVES THAT THE AFRICANS HAD WERE TREATED WAY FUCKING BETTER THAN THOSE COUGHT UP IN WHITE CHATTEL SLAVERY
SHUT THE FUCK UP WITH YOUR DUPLICITOUS BULLSHIT
I think I’ll reblog this before I go to bed when I can. This is especially a shout out to the Black women and queer and trans* people, those dealing with mental health stuff and poverty and assholes and abusers and all that
Anna vs. rapunzel.
Guys, I know they look similar but Jesus the movie isn’t even out yet! Wait till you see it to judge it! Be proud of Pixar, in close ups of Anna’s face it looks like they have really improved the way they do skin and eyebrows.

I am getting so fucking mad that people don’t stop to appreciate the subtle differences between these two princesses!!! THEIR EYEBROWS ARE DIFFERENT GUYS, SHIT. Okay, I know Anna is like our nth of infinite White princesses, but goddamnit, LOOK HOW HER CHIN IS ROUNDED WHILE RAPUNZEL’S ISN’T!!!
Their necks are different widths and no one is taking note!!!
